Happy Anniversary Boy

Today P and I have been married for two years... and it is also our nine year anniversary as a couple!

I was very pleasantly surprised this morning when P gave me a set of beautiful Tord Boontje charms.

Made By Me Me Me

I came across the wonderful work of Jade Gallup this week, and have completely fallen in love with a little brown bunny...

Reading the NEWS page on her website me me me, I am staggered that I haven't come accross Jade's work before, especially as her beautiful pieces are carried in one of my very favourite London shops, Family Tree.

I'm also really rather taken with Jade's Mary and Swallow brooches...

Good things... #1

On Monday I received my birthday present from P in the post. P decided that he wanted to give me a piece of jewellery. I had been thinking about a ring which I had seen a number of times in Margaret Howell, so decided to check it out again to make sure it was what I wanted. However, when we visited their store on Wigmore Street, the ring was gone... the range had been replaced with another selection of beautiful, understated jewellery. But I wanted the ring which now appeared to be unavailable... very typical me!

I thought about it for a few days and decided to call... and am so glad I did. They kindly put me in contact with the designer maker, Emma Craig. Hey presto...

The ring is a set of slim silver bands, and is a perfect fit (please excuse photo!).

Thank you P... and Emma. I love it!! x

Birthday

Today has been full of favourite things... grey skies, fresh rain, thunder and lightning.

Presents from P...

After my haircut, lunch at Story Deil, the best pizza in London... I had my usual, chorizo and pumpkin.

P also wants to get me some jewellery, so we made a visit to Wright and Teague to check out the Gala rings. I'm still thinking about it, as there is another ring which I am keen on at Margaret Howell...

Then we headed over to Dover Street Market and had some tea in the Rose Bakery...

It was then time for a trip west to Whole Foods Market on Kensington High Street in search of sea salted caramels, which was a complete chewy success. ..

Next up was a visit to the Serpentine Gallery to see the work of Maria Lassnig...

Lastly, dinner at St John in Smithfield. What a feast... rounded off with rhubarb ripple ice-cream, if you please!

I've had a super day!!

Kamilla Ruberg

On my way to work this morning a complete stranger struck up a conversation with me about my engagement ring. He commented that he thought it was very interesting and completely different from anything he'd seen... he is in the process of planning to propose himself, but was having trouble working out what sort of ring to get!!

I can't deny that I was very flattered. I'm so happy with my unconventional 'smartie' ring, designed and made by the talented Danish jeweller Kamilla Ruberg. You can see some pictures of larger 'smartie' dress rings via the Jewellery link on her website.

I knew as soon as I first saw these rings that I wanted one as my engagement ring. Some people think it's a strange choice, but I absolutely love it.

Kamilla also made our wedding bands, mine is a slim square band and, I think, it contrasts nicely with the round band on my 'smartie' ring.

As a wedding gift, P had Kamilla make me a pair of 'smartie' stud earrings too...

Dogeared with Sea-salted Almond Rocher...

It is true to say that, this year, Valentines day was a big event in our house. My lovely husband presented me with this beautiful necklace by Dogeared... little silver wings with a tiny gold dipped heart. I love it and haven't taken it off!

This beauty will last significantly longer than the rather special Sea-salted Almond Rocher from Paul A Young which P also gave me... they didn't even last 24 hours!

More favorite things...

P gave me a beautiful necklace for Christmas. It's a brushed sterling silver picture locket on 14K rose gold chain by Diana Kane. We picked it up at Auto. Now to find a tiny picture to put in it...

In the backround of the photo above you can just see another of P's paintings. It's called Bedroom and hangs in our bedroom. Love it!!
