Tiny Tim's

Today Mrs W and I spent a very pleasant afternoon in the city of Canterbury. We made the trip in order to take tea at Tiny Tim’s Tearoom. What a fabulous place. I had their Blue Lady tea, and among other delights, enjoyed the best Victoria sponge cake I’ve had in a long time…

A perfect start to the holiday weekend!

We're home

My heart belongs to Antwerp... well, at least for the time being anyway! We had a wonderful weekend in this stylish, compact, historic and generous city.

One of the biggest highlights was our hotel, Boulevard Leopold.  I can't recall where I found their website, but I'm glad I did as it was the catalyst for me booking time off and the flights...  I absolutely loved the comfortable feel and perfect style of the house, which dates from 1890. I'd move in in a flash... if I could!

On the day we arrived, we found ourselves in the right neighbourhood and paid a visit to the very lovely Mieke Willems.  I could've spent hours browsing the shelves full of desirable goods in this small, but perfectly formed, store. I picked up some o-check design graphic check tape in red, a cute cloud pen and a cheerful pop-up clown card both from millimetermilligram, along with a copy of Bruno Munari's Roses in the Salad.

So many other things to see, do, eat and drink.  I'm already wondering when we can return...

Coffee with sugarless ginger bread at De Biologisch-Dynamische Bakkerij

Drinks and lunch at Kapitein Zeppos

Delicious supper at Refectoire

Chocolates by Günther Watté, salt & pepper caramel was my favourite

Garden and Cosmos: The Royal Paintings of Jodhpur

Tonight we went to see Garden and Cosmos: The Royal Paintings of Jodhpur at the British Museum. It's an absolutely fascinating exhibition... I was completely enchanted with every single one of the 56 incredibly detailed, lush and colourful paintings, which date back to the 17th century.

None of these paintings have been shown in Europe before.  If you get the chance, you should take the time to go and see them.

Liberty

In the running for my second home, I popped in to Liberty to see the Carnaby Street entrance decoration. Love it.

Was delighted to see that they're stocking Dr. Bronner's Magic Pure Castile Classic Soap. Picked up a 32oz bottle in peppermint.

Lewes

On Sunday we took a day trip to Lewes in East Sussex.

Lunch at Bill's Produce Store.

Two tempting Bjørn Wiinblad plates.

Enjoying the shade at Lewes Castle.

Afternoon tea at Wickle.

It was a great mini-one-day-holiday and rather nice to be out of the city for the day.

Masking Tape

In preparation of some smart gift wrapping, I just received these lovely rolls of Japanese Washi paper Kamoi Kakoshi masking tape from Present&Correct.

I'm completely hooked and am now after this, this and this.

Coco Avant Chanel

On Monday Deerylou and I went to see the very wonderful Coco Avant Chanel.

I loved absolutely everything about this film... and can't wait to see it again!
