Pancake Day

It's Shrove Tuesday, so after supper I kept to tradition and made pancakes. I followed the classic pancake recipe from Breakfast Lunch Tea, Rose Bakery which produced a thicker American style pancake batter that is super, super light when cooked.

Green and Black's hazelnut chocolate spread for P, sugar with lemon for me. They were delicious!

Sunday...

Columbia Road for sunflowers, a cute variety known as Teddy Bear.

As usual, a peek in to Ryantown...

Home for tea and toast with marmite and a browse through the October issue of Vogue, which has articles on...

Mr Rob and Ryantown...

Orla Kiely, which mentions a range of spectacles for 2009. As an Orla fan who wears glasses this is especially exciting news!

Good things... #1

On Monday I received my birthday present from P in the post. P decided that he wanted to give me a piece of jewellery. I had been thinking about a ring which I had seen a number of times in Margaret Howell, so decided to check it out again to make sure it was what I wanted. However, when we visited their store on Wigmore Street, the ring was gone... the range had been replaced with another selection of beautiful, understated jewellery. But I wanted the ring which now appeared to be unavailable... very typical me!

I thought about it for a few days and decided to call... and am so glad I did. They kindly put me in contact with the designer maker, Emma Craig. Hey presto...

The ring is a set of slim silver bands, and is a perfect fit (please excuse photo!).

Thank you P... and Emma. I love it!! x

Red Velvet Cake

Yesterday afternoon, I took a trip to Portobello Road, and whilst there I popped in to the excellent Hummingbird Bakery.

My reason was to pick up two slices of their Red Velvet Cake... it's a firm favourite with us. P and I chose this for our wedding cake, back in December, and it went down an absolute treat with everyone... the only problem being that on the day I didn't really get to have as much as I'd have liked.

Stig Lindberg

Second up is a catalogue from the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm.

The catalogue is actually four articles on the work of Stig Lindberg, exploring the idea of him being a trademark vs. an artist. Sadly (for me that is) it's in Swedish so I'm unable to read it. The beautiful pictures do go a long way to make up for it however...

Odon, 1965-1970

Colorado, 1955-1962

Termos, 1960-

Salix, 1950-

We have a small collection of Lindberg's porcelain cups, saucers and plates for Gustavsberg. The extremely popular Bersa, Adam and Spisa Ribb. All available in London from the Scandinavian mecca Skandium.

My dream pieces? Have to be the Bersa jug and teapot...

Simply Breakfast

I love breakfast, it’s my very favourite mealtime. The only problem is that I don’t manage to have a proper breakfast during the week. Like so many other people, I have the bad habit of surviving until lunch time on a “double-tall-skinny-wet-latte” from, well, you probably can guess where…

Combining a love of breakfast with a passion for reading the myriad amazing blogs out there, it is no surprise that I really enjoy stopping by Simply Breakfast to see Jen's beautiful compositions. I can't deny that more often than not, I find myself wishing that I'd started my day like her.

It's Saturday, I'm home alone this morning as P is working, so I decided to share my breakfast with you... my photography does not have the desirable quality of Jen's I'm afraid.

A pot of my favourite Tanzanian Chagga coffee from the Algerian Coffee Stores in Soho, with some warm milk, and a scrumptious chocolate croissant from Euphorium Bakery in Islington, warmed through in the oven for a few minutes...
